StNotepad Touch Multitouch Gestures

The various gestures of StNotepad discussed below describes a preferred one-hand gesture and are two finger gestures. The gestures can be performed by any finger and hence does not describe the use of a particular finger for a particular gesture. Thus, the gestures can even be two handed as per user’s preference.

Copy Gesture

Copy gesture copies a highlighted portion of text onto clipboard. To perform this gesture place one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger perform a “C” shaped curved movement on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary on the multi-touch screen. The release of second finger, then first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Paste Gesture

Paste gesture pastes clipboard data at the cursor’s position. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger make a “V” shaped continuous movement on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Cut Gesture

Cut gesture moves a highlighted portion of the text onto clipboard. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger make an “X” shaped continuous movement on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Space Gesture

Space gesture inserts a single space at the cursor’s position. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger make a horizontal movement towards the right on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Backspace Gesture

Backspace gesture removes a character/letter preceding the cursor’s position. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger make a horizontal movement towards the left on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Tab Gesture

Tab gesture inserts a tab space at the cursor’s position. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger make a “7″ shaped continuous movement on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Enter Gesture

Enter gesture inserts a new line at the cursor’s position. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger first make a vertical downward movement and then a horizontal left continuous movement on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Delete Gesture

Delete gesture removes a character subsequent to the cursor’s position. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger make a “D” shaped continuous movement on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Save Gesture

Save gesture saves the current document being edited. To perform this gesture keep one finger stationary on the touch screen, then using another finger make an “S” shaped continuous movement on the multi-touch screen while the first finger is still held stationary. The release of the second finger, followed by the first finger from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Redo Gesture

Redo gesture reinstates the action of the last undo action. To perform this gesture place two fingers simultaneously on the touch screen and at the same time perform a clockwise curve movement using both fingers. The release of both the fingers from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Undo Gesture

Undo gesture reverts the last performed action. To perform this gesture place two fingers simultaneously on the touch screen and at the same time perform an anti-clockwise curve movement using both fingers. The release of both the fingers from the multi-touch screen completes the command.

Zoom Gesture

Zoom gesture increases or decreases the font size in the editor. To increase the font size place two fingers simultaneously on the multi-touch screen and at the same time take both fingers away from each other in an outward movement. To decrease the font size place two fingers simultaneously on the multi-touch screen (a little away from each other) and at the same time bring both fingers together in an inward movement.

Select All Gesture

Select All gesture highlights all content present in the working document in the editor. To perform this gesture place two fingers and make a “S” shaped continuous movement with both the fingers. Try to make “S” shape as small as possible.

Scroll Gesture

Scroll gesture scrolls through the document. To perform this gesture either use one finger or two fingers on the multi-touch screen and make a vertical movement. The direction of movement determines the screen scroll direction.

Full Screen Gesture

Fullscreen gesture is switches the text editor to fullscreen mode.To perform this gesture simply place two fingers on the editor.

The recent version also supports full screen viewing, where the StNotepad occupies the whole screen of the monitor without the taskbar and window bar in view.

Apart from all these easy movements, StNotepad Touch also has a beautiful contents menu using which the edit functionalities can be accessed with a single touch.
